Umniah Telecom established itself as a fully integrated operator of communication and broadband internet services in the Kingdom, and has recently completed the 4G LTE testing period in partnership with its strategic partner Huawei, the leading global information and communications technology solutions and equipment provider. The new advancement has added momentum to the eight year old partnership that resulted in the establishment of the high end infrastructure in Jordan, and has transformed the outlook of the internet market into a platform that launches the latest in telecom technologies worldwide.
Umniah offered exclusive opportunity to experience its 4G LTE technology and discover its added value at the company's booth for the visitors of the 2013 MENA ICT Forum held at the Convention Center in the Dead Sea.
The Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the very latest development in terms of broadband wireless telecom technology, referred to in North America as 4G, which enables users to access the internet at extremely high speed reaching 130 Mbps.
The CEO of Umniah Ihab Hinnawi commented on the breakthrough: "we are proud to launch this service in Jordan even though it is limited to certain geographical locations. However, it is notable that this technology is the most recent in wireless broadband internet worldwide, although it remains at the very early stages of integration into telecom markets around the world and in the region."
He added: "Having completed the testing successfully will allow us to integrate the new technology to other parts of the local market on the short run, just as soon as the conditions are deemed convenient for Jordanian users to accommodate such service at an appropriate cost."
LTE is the most recent advancement in broadband internet and telecommunication technologies, offering the capacity to exchange data at extremely high speeds of four folds the recorded time of previous technologies, at 130 Mbps for download and 43 Mbps for upload. The LTE also reduces network latency (access delays) to a quarter, as compared to previous wireless broadband internet generations, which increases the users' feel for speed. The network's high speed in transferring and processing data will allow users to exchange data, multimedia, voice calls, audio-visual conference calls as well as e-commerce at unprecedented quality and speed.
